We offer you electrical heating plates, made of plastic and fibreglass, as well as hot water heating plates, with a body made of polypropylene, which are directly built in the floor in place of slats.
Thanks to these heating plates, you will be able to create a comfort zone and to warm up your piglets in the farrowing rooms. They can be simply placed alone in the farrowing pens or under a nest which will make it easier to maintain a constant and homogeneous temperature.
Indeed, it has been shown that, for young piglets up to 21 days, heating pads are the preferred choice, compared to heating lamps, for several reasons. First, due to the shape of the farrowing pen, heating plates fit logically in the creep area, creating a gap between the heat source and sow. Heating pads also prevent the piglets from being hurt by the broken glass of a bulb and allow to maintain a larger, more spread-out heat source in the creep area.
It has also been proved that heating pads help reducing the mortality rate of the piglets before weaning.
